Net hammocks, woven hammocks originate from Yucatan Mexico – olé

Hamacas from Merida – Merida, on the Yucatan Peninsula, in southwestern Mexico, is the Eldorado of traditional Mexican hammocks, which are produced in the villages around Merida. The Mayans are the masters and Masters in this special weaving technique. The loom is located at home and thus enables a small income without having to migrate to the big cities.

We source our Mexican net hammocks from a large family business. Jorge Razu and his sons have been running their hammock business in the bustling city of Merida for many years, exporting worldwide. Jorge Razu passed away in 2010. Jorge was a good friend. He supported me from our very first visit.

Jorge Razu was our first supplier, it all started with him… we will never forget him
